The Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes at the 2025 Golden Globes!
Kicking off the film industry’s awards season, the nominations for the prestigious Golden Globes —historically awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press— have just been announced. 9 films presented in the Official Selection of the 77th Festival de Cannes (8 from the In Competition list and 1 from Un Certain Regard) are among the films honoured, racking up 28 nominations across 12 different categories. Following their world premieres at Cannes, the Festival is delighted to see them back in the spotlight, spanning new horizons and finding new audiences.
With 10 nominations in the most prestigious categories (Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Director, Motion Picture; Best Screenplay, Motion Picture; Best Motion Picture, Non-English Language), Emilia Pérez by Jacques Audiard—winner of the 2024 Jury Prize and Best Actress award—leads the pack. Musicians Camille and Clément Ducol, who wrote the film’s unforgettable soundtrack, garnered two nominations in the Best Original Song category!
Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, which also attracted a great deal of acclaim at Cannes, wining the Best Screenplay award, received five nominations, including acting nods for Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley. All We Imagine as Light by Payal Kapadia (Grand Prix) and The Apprentice by Ali Abbasi have two nominations each. Palme d’or winner Anora by Sean Baker, The Seed of The Sacred Fig by Mohammad Rasoulof (winner of a Special Award) and Kinds of Kindness (winner of the Best Actor Award) by Yorgós Lánthimos were also honoured.
The Festival de Cannes wishes the nominees all the best for the Golden Globes and their future careers, and would like to congratulate the films’ producers, distributors and sellers for their commitment to sharing these works of art around the world.
The 78th Festival de Cannes will take place from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 24 May 2025.
The Official selection will be revealed in mid-April 2025.
